Congratulations to Tiffany and Brandon, who were married yesterday in Middleton, TN. I loved this image so much that I had to post this here! “Into the Sunset” shows the pair driving off from the reception after their beautiful wedding, and is one of my firm favourites from the day.
We had a really wonderful time working with the Tigner and Johns families – they made us feel a real part of the celebrations and the wedding, and it was a privilege to be there. I hope they all enjoy their wedding photographs as much as we enjoyed creating them, and I wish them all the happiness in the world for a lifetime together.
This image was taken on the evening of July 12th 2009, just a few moments before the sun set. Storms were brewing in the north west after an unsettled day, and these clouds caught the last rays of the setting sun nicely.

When I saw this wall in midtown Memphis, while on an urban senior portrait session, I couldn’t resist using it as a backdrop for a series of portraits of Anne, pictured here.
To a photographer, backgrounds are every bit as important as the subject, and this one was a real beauty – a work of art. Whether someone was paid to create this, or it’s simply a piece of random street art, doesn’t really matter – it provided the perfect backdrop for an urban-style street environmental portrait.

July 5th 2009 turned out to be a mostly cloudy day with intermittent thunderstorms and rain showers over most of the Memphis area.
With all the clouds about and thunderheads dotting the sky, the setting sun provided a beautiful show of color and texture in the sky, which simply begged to be photographed. I made about 20 photographs over a period of five minutes or so, the sky changing rapidly in shape and color during that time.
This image, along with some of the others, was processed from the original RAW file and then I used Photoshop to enhance the contrast and colors to produce a series of impressions of the sunset. Other images can be found in my Alternative Projects Album on Facebook.
